Marketing was once considered strictly based on creative properties. Although creativity is still important for successful marketing, the fact that it takes the use of sociological and psychological understanding of the consumer to market successfully, marketing is now considered a science. Marketing has undergone a series of evolutions and re-invented itself within our culture by implementing the use of science as well as creativity to make it even more of a successful practice.

Even the most creative mind can fail to generate success if they do not understand the wants and needs of people. If you understand people psychologically as well so sociologically, you can predict future trends much easier. The market if forever undergoing evolution, changing and re-inventing to keep up with the changing patterns of trends as well as the changes people undergo psychologically. Companies used to be highly concerned with the quality of their products and paid little attention to the needs of the consumer. Some companies still do this but as most of gone through evolutionary changes, they have figured out that the customer and quality go hand in hand.

Over all, evolution of marketing has taught companies that it is the customer who inevitably decides what to sell and what not to sell. Thanks to the implementation of science, a successful company can you psychology in their marketing campaigns to convince consumers that they want or need a particular product, service or idea. Through this evolutionary enlightenment, a good marketing manager will be able to promote a particular product by using the quality of the product as well as using creativity to show what is so important about the product. Though there are still many evolutionary changes that will continue to take place in the market, adding science was perhaps one of the largest stepping stones.
